Sisters Sewn Together Mini

The idea for this little mini album came about when I found some vintage dress patterns as a junk store last spring. After some trial and error (I accidently misted the cover green and had to bleach it back) and some creative blocks, I've finally finished it! Yay!

The cover started as a plain canvas book cover. I added Tim Holtz distress inks to it for an old worn linen look. Then, I used scans from the dress patterns to create an iron-on for the cover. Unfortunately my cutting mat wasn't really heat-resistant and wound up a rippled mess. Add one destroyed fiskars cutting mat to the cost of the project....

The spine is decorated with wooden buttons and spools from Maya Road inked to look old. The floral trim, wood buttons, and spools are all hand stitched on. My friend Linda assures me that it's just fine, but I somehow feel like the cover is too plain. Don't be surprised if I go back and add some more stuff to it a little later.

Supplies: Maya Road; October Afternoon "Thrift Shop" and "Fly a Kite" Papers. Inks and paints from Ranger.

Gimme Cake

Playing with more Owl Soup from Jillibean.

Created the "frosting" splatters buy smacking a white sharpie marker on the table as I worked my way around the pages.

Inspiration Station: Whites and Neutrals

This color scheme reminds me of winter whites, but could also work for breezy summer beaches too.

Inspiration Station: Orange-Cream-Sky Blue

I love happy accidents. Like when you happen to be shopping and a color scheme just pops up on a random isle. This particular one would go great with my basement.... Now, if I could just commit to some home decor projects to make it useful. :)

Sweet Victory

Was in the mood to rock a little Jillibean Owl Soup and lucky for me, Lance just happened to have some color coordinated birthday pictures to go with it. I'm such a lucky girl :)

Bra Book version 2.0

This time of year marks the beginning of wedding season and it seems like I always get invited to the "personal showers." Being just a little bit prudish myself, I'm absolutely horified by the thought of selecting lingerie for someone else. So, I reach for my comfort zone - papercrafting and put together little lingerie-themed albums for the guest of honor. The theme of the book is centered around, "A good friend is like a good bra...."

Here's one that I did last spring:

I'm also thinking this concept would work very well for a breast cancer survivor book too.

Inspiration Station: Buttercream-Turquoise-Red

I saw this ironing board awhile back and fell in love with it, but couldn't think of a place or a purpose for it. It was still there the second time I went back, but still, with no intended use in mind, I couldn't justify brining it home. (Even though it was a mere $15.) Last time I went, the beautiful turquoise paint had been replaced by black chalkboard paint... and my heart sank. *sigh*
